Another Girl: Heather Mills

Heather Anne Mills was born on January 12, 1968 to Mark Mills and Beatrice Finlay in Aldershot, England. Heather has one older brother, Shane, and two younger sisters, Fiona and Claire (from their father’s relationship in the 1980s). Heather grew up in lower middle class, constantly moving while her father had multiple jobs to make ends meet. When Heather was 9 years old, her mother left the family for another man after enduring her husband's abuse. The abuse extended to her children and Heather was relied on household chores and maternal duties. When she was 13, Heather's father was sent to prison for fraud; Shane went to live with relatives while Heather and Fiona lived with their mother, who they reconciled the previous year. It wasn't long when Heather clashed with her mother's boyfriend and moved out to live on the streets. In 1989, Heather married Alfie Karmal after 3 years together a few months after her mother's death and started her modeling career. The marriage ended in 1991 when Heather started a relationship with a ski instructor in Yugoslavia during a vacation. In August of 1993, Heather was crossing the street when a police motorcycle collided into her while speeding; she suffered from broken ribs, pelvis, punctured lung, and a severed left foot that was found on the other side of the street. During her hospital stay, Heather's leg developed an infection and was amputated below the knee. Heather devoted herself to charity, visiting hospitals and refugees with donations of prosthetic limbs, and campaigning against landmines.
Paul saw Heather present an award at the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain awards in 1999 and he took an interest. Paul donated money to her charity trust foundation. They gradually started a romance and went public in March of 2000. Paul and Heather became inseparable and became a team with their charities as well as going along with Paul on his tours. They got engaged in 2001 and got married on June 11, 2002. Paul and Heather welcomed Beatrice Milly on October 28, 2003. But by 2005, the marriage was crumbling and they separated the following year. During divorce proceedings, Heather accused Paul of abuse while the press and fans turned against her. The divorce came final in May of 2008, sharing custody of Beatrice. Heather went on to open her first vegan restaurant in Brighton called V-Bites and started to train as a skier for the 2014 Paralympics but was dropped for not having the right equipment. Heather switched from skiing to speed ski and set the record for being the fastest disabled woman. Heather divides her time between Austria and England. Both Paul and Heather try to keep their daughter away from the public eye as much as possible.

As far as I know, Heather and Cynthia never met.
Heather did meet Julian when he saw Paul in concert in London after being seen going to his seat after being backstage.

"John Lennon was shot and George [Harrison] was stabbed and loads of kids are getting kidnapped, so if you could keep her face out of it or at least if you could blur it out, I’d really appreciate it. I don't care about me or Paul but it is risking her life every time a picture is put out in public.”
Heather Mills, 2005

"She became the she-devil and he was stupid. Like me, I think he should've given it more time. He got married and it was fabulous and then the chemistry wasn't right. But you have to live with somebody long enough to know that the chemistry is right or not."
Cynthia, 2009

"I've made mistakes with relationships and jumped in the deep end; not knowing yourself without needing somebody else and that was the situation with Paul. Heather was into good causes, vegetarianism, so I understand where he was coming from."
Cynthia, 2009

"I have respect for any wife who has been dropped like a ton of bricks by the husband she is loves for another model, especially when there are young children involved. Being married to a music god cannot be easy."
Cynthia, 2009
